Bible Study this evening at 5:00.

The Church Council (Administrative Board) will meet NEXT Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. Members of this committee are Carolyn Roberts, Clara Mae Olson, Diana Herdt, Gerald Aven, Helen Masterson, Kendall Morrow, Marcy Keith, Martha Hubbard, Marty Tolbert, Mildred Sisk, Patty Goforth, and Topper Olson

Next Sunday is First Sunday. We will have potluck lunch after the worship service.

5th Sunday Breakfast

Don’t forget, this Sunday is 5th Sunday. The men’s fellowship will meet at 7:30 to cook breakfast and everyone is invited to join us at 9:00 a.m. to eat.

Be sure and ask Kendall, Meredith, or Marianne about their experience at the Stop Hunger Now event yesterday. They worked very hard and helped package over 10,000 meals to be sent where needed.

Bible Study tonight at 5:00 (note the new time).

The United Methodist Women will meet Tuesday at 11:00.

Choir practice Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

We are preparing Christmas Stockings for our shut-ins. Please bring items that can be used for this and give them to Mrs. Marcy.

December 12th after church the ladies will have a cookie swap.  Make a batch of your favorite cookies and we will swap.  If you are unable to bake any cookies, please come anyway, there will be plenty of cookies to share.  Also, we will have sandwiches and chips. The men will pick a restaurant and go out for lunch and fellowship while the ladies have their cookie swap.

We will have a Christmas Eve worship service with communion at 7:00. Please come and celebrate the birth in Bethlehem.

We are planning a Fall Fish Fry for October 23rd. We’ll start cooking around 2:00 Sat afternoon and eat around 5:00. There will be singing and storytelling afterward. Everyone is invited, so make plans to join in the fun and bring someone with you. We have had to move the date a couple of times because of conflicts, so check your calendars.

The Lay Leadership committee met Sunday before last and made new committee assignments which were effective as of Oct 1st. Please take time to review the assignments and let us know if there is anything we missed. If you are a committee chairperson, please make plans to call a meeting soon to discuss committee responsibilities and ideas for the new year.

Registration and fellowship will begin at 9:30 a.m. and meeting to begin at 10:00a.m. Ellen Wicker Cummings of Baylake, VA will share her experiences in Sudan. Sit back, relax while Ellen introduces you to her new friends, and conveys her experiences, her observations, and challenges for the church today.

Announcements 2/14/10

No Guitar Lessons Tonight.

The PPR Committee will meet this afternoon at 2:00. Members are Topper Olson, Marcy Keith, and Bob Fife.

This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, a day of special devotion. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent, a period of spiritual discipline, fasting and moderation in preparation for Holy Week and Easter. We will have a special Ash Wednesday service this week beginning at 7:00 p.m. Please come and share in this special time of dedication and spiritual renewal.

Youth News-
UMYF will meet tonight at 6:00.

Breakfast on Dec 20th

We will celebrate Christmas together on Sunday the 20th with a special breakfast. The men’s fellowship will meet at 7:30 to cook and everyone else will join us at 9:00. Instead of exchanging gifts we will be asking for donations to our Benevolence fund.

Dec 13, 2009

Thanks to everyone who came and helped decorate the sanctuary. It looks fabulous.

We are having a special food drive for the family of a local soldier who has been deployed. We are providing them a Christmas dinner and any extra food we can come up with. Bring your donations and leave them in the fellowship hall.

We will celebrate Christmas together on Sunday the 20th either before or after services. It hasn’t been decided yet which it will be, breakfast or lunch. We need to know what you would rather do, so please let Gerald or Bro. Allen know. Instead of exchanging gifts we will be asking for donations to our Benevolence fund.

Each year, we send a special donation to the Children’s Home fund. If you would like to give to this worthwhile charity, please see Mrs. Clara Mae.

We will have a special Christmas Eve communion service on December 23 at 6:30 p.m. Please come and celebrate the coming of our Lord and Savior.
